Here are the weight and fat graphs for November 2009.
For the first few days the weight gain was slow, but after a couple of weeks the weight went down. Clear indication that I was not getting enough calories. That was when I increased my calories from 1800 to 2000. See my previous post for more details about it. As soon as I increased the calories I saw a sudden and quick weight increase for a couple of weeks and then it started dipping. I am not sure of the reason, but it could be because I was over training. I rested for the first week of december so that should give enough time for my body to recover.
The flip side of gaining weight is the fat. I have been constantly gaining fat. Even during the time when I could not gain any weight I was still getting fat. Perhaps over training, muscle loss and calorie deficiencies could be the reason. I have to take better care of my body. We will see how december goes.

Chandan, have you tracked your calories? You might actually notice a trend if you put your weight, %BF and calories (and if possible, percentage calories from protein, fat and carbs) all together. Your sudden (and unfortunate) fat gain might be simply because you might be taking in the extra calories from carbs alone. I have been an admirer of the way you have been gaining strength while at the same time keeping %BF low. That doesnt happen easy with me.
ReplyDeleteYeah I probably should give more attention to how many calories I eat. The problem it is not easy to guess the calories and the ratios of the macronutrients I am eating because 50% of the time I eat indian food. Depending on the preparation and ingredients the values will vary a bit. Still if I spend some time I should be able to get those numbers right.
ReplyDeleteTo me the number of calories and the calories from protein are the only ones I really consider. As you know any of the macronutrients can become fat. But I agree carbs are easier to convert to fat. I aim to eat 130 lb of protein and stay around 2000 calories total. That is all I track.
Thank you :). I thought from you last graph your fat% was flat while you are gaining weight and strength? Don't worry too much about fat, make sure you are lifting heavy and once you have enough muscle they will take care of burning fat.
