In my previous post I gave some body weight and fat numbers for the 3 month period starting from April 2010 to Jun 2010. It is now time for some graphs. Here are my weight, fat and lean mass graphs for the same period.
As you can see I pretty much kept my fat% constant. There were a few jumps here and there, but in the end, I am still under 10% body fat and can still see my abs definition slightly as is expected at around 10% BF. Now for some observations. Right before I got sick my weight jumped a lot. That was around May 8th. The gain was probably just water weight. My body was perhaps retaining water as I was about to get sick. Interestingly, my caliper measurements have also gone awry and showed higher fat percentage.
Right after I got sick and as I started recovering, I lost a lot of weight. This was around May 15th. There is a sharp drop in the weight and fat % dropped to the normal value. But I did lose some muscle as a result of falling sick and recovery. I did not go to the gym during that week. The following 3 weeks saw a nice improvement in my weight.
But then I decided to switch to more muscle gain instead of strength gains, because I pretty much stopped improving in strength and more over it has already been 3 months in strength training. This was around June 5th. Coincidently right after I switched to muscle mass gain from strength training, I saw a sudden slowness in my weight gain. I am unable to lay the blame completely in the new program because I have been having other distractions that took my attention away from eating well for the next 4 weeks. More about that in my next. post.
Overall I made some good progress. Keeping the body fat constant was not intentional. It was the side effect of eating clean. I don't say I am eating clean food 100% of the time, but I definitely have improved a lot from my previous weight gain phases, when I would eat pastries and chocolates without giving it a second though. Now it is mostly clean food. I always balance my carbs with proteins. Usually I switch to leaning phase after 3 months of weight gain, but this particular phase went so well that I decided to continue gaining weight. Still to come
